The Los Angeles Lakers hopes to finally end their three-game losing streak when they visit the Houston Rockets on Wednesday evening in the ongoing National Basketball Association season.
Holding an impressive 13-5 win-loss record, the Lakers is the favorite to win their game despite their losing woes due to the woeful 5-12 record of the Rockets this year.
The three-game losing streak is a huge headache for the Lakers since it is the second time to happen to the NBA Western conference team since acquiring superstar Spanish center
Pau Gasol in February 2008.
The defending NBA champion wants to avoid a four-game losing streak which had not happened to the team since April 13, 2007.
In their last game, the Lakers suffered a heart-breaking 98-96 loss to the
Memphis Grizzlies despite a steady performance from some of the top players of the team.
Despite their losing woes, the Lakers feel confident of its chances against the Rockets since they already earlier defeated them last October 26 at the Staples Center 112-110.
The Lakers is also aware of the fact that the Rockets are having a bad year due to the absence of NBA superstar center Yao Ming, who is again down with an injury.
Leading the charge for the visiting Lakers in its game against the Rockets are superstar guard Kobe “Black Mamba” Bryant and Gasol, who are both instrumental in the past two NBA championship of the team.
If Bryant and Gasol can once again produce a great game, the Lakers can avoid a four-game losing streak and notch their 14th win in the 2010-2011 NBA season.
Although, they are the underdog in their game, the Rockets can still pull an upset against the visitor if the team will play all their hearts-out in-front of its fans.
Rockets forward Luis Scola, the main of the team this year also needs to score and rebound big for the team so that they will have the chance to beat the Lakers at home.
Scola, the basketball star from Argentina is a potent force for the Rockets this year as he average 20.6 points and 9.1 rebounds for his team.
The Rockets also need to play tough defense and stop the Lakers from scoring so that they can extend the losing woes of the defending NBA champion and improve their chance for an NBA playoff spot this year.
