The Florida Marlins look to stop the Texas Rangers at home in the second of a three-game interleague series. The game starts at 7 PM ET.
The Rangers took the first game of the series 3-2 thanks to a ninth inning two-run triple off of the bat of Matt Treanor.
The Florida Marlins (31-33, 17-16 home) opened this latest round of interleague play in impressive fashion beating the Tampa Bay Rays in two out of three games before dropping last night’s game. The Marlins are in fourth place in the NL East, but they sit just six games behind the division-leading Braves.
The Texas Rangers (36-28, 13-17 away) are on a three-game winning streak after taking two of three from the Milwaukee Brewers before last night’s dramatic win. The wins have helped them maintain their position atop the AL West.
Two Rangers currently sport hitting streaks worth mentioning. Vladimir Guerrero’s single last night extended his streak to 12. Josh Hamilton picked up two hits last night to comfortably extend his streak to 11 games.
On the mound for the Marlins will be Anibal Sanchez (6-3, 3.36 ERA). Sanchez has a bit of a hot hand going 5-1 with a 2.72 ERA since May 13 and he has picked up six wins in his last seven starts. This will be the first time he has faced the Rangers.
Tommy Hunter (2-0, 1.80 ERA) will get the start for the Rangers. After starting the season on the DL, Hunter has worked his way up from Triple A and is perfect so far this season in the Majors with two wins in two starts.
