Baseball Betting: Baltimore Orioles at San Francisco Giants

On June 14, 2010, the Baltimore Orioles and the San Francisco Giants will meet in California for the first time in six years. This interleague matchup looks to go the way of the Giants as the Orioles have had a horrific road trip. They have eight straight losses on the road and San Francisco hopes to hand them a ninth.

Taking a closer look at the Baltimore Orioles it is apparent that they are the very worst team in the league right now. They have lost 15 of 17 and can just be expected to lose if they are playing on the road. When playing National League opponents, the Orioles are just 1-5.

The Orioles manager, Juan Samuel, has tried to remain positive but his lineup has hit some major bumps ever since letting Aubrey Huff go. Huff has since signed with the giants and has hit .400 in the last 16 games that he has played in.

The San Francisco Giants are on the other end of the spectrum having won 12 of their last 17 games. They have a strong starting pitcher and that looks to be one of their biggest advantages.

In order for the Orioles to have a chance they will need Miguel Tejada to come out strong and be able to get a hit off of Jonathan Sanchez. They will also need Chris Tillman to pitch a great game coming off of a high in New York. When they played the Yankees, Tillman was able to hold them to only three runs.

New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles MLB Betting Preview

The New York Yankees look to complete the three-game series sweep tonight as they visit the Baltimore Orioles. The game starts at 7 PM ET.

The New York Yankees (37-22, 18-15 away) have terrorized the Orioles this season. Robinson Cano is 22-for-44 against them with four home runs and seven RBIs. Baltimore is to blame for his major league leading .376 batting average.

In last night’s 12-7 win, Nick Swisher had five RBIs to give him 12 this season against Baltimore. He is 18-for-46 against Baltimore’s pitching.

The Yankees have been making up ground on the NL East-leading Rays with wins in eight of their last ten games and this soft portion of the schedule means they should be able to keep the pressure on.

The Baltimore Orioles (16-43, 10-18 home) look like they are throwing a sacrificial lamb to appease the Yankees. Interim manager Juan Samuel for some reason thinks that the Yankees stacked batting order is a good team to give a rookie his first major league start.

Jake Arrieta has looked great playing for the Orioles minor league affiliate Norfolk going 6-2 in 12 starts with a 1.85 ERA. He has 64 strikeouts to 34 walks and opposing batters are hitting just .189 against him.

The Yankees send A.J. Burnett (6-3, 3.72 ERA) to the mound for this one. Burnett has gone 11-2 in 15 career starts against Baltimore with a 4.41 ERA. He is a perfect 2-0 this season with no earned runs.
