San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Alex Smith has pledge to play even harder to give his team its first win when host the Oakland Raiders on October 17.
Smith, who luckily remains the team’s starting quarterback despite their 0-5 win-loss record also vowed to play less cautious so that he can think and play better in their game against the Oakland Raiders.
The decision to keep Smith on the starting line-up drew criticism from die hard supporter of the 49ers saying it is time to experiment on a new starting quarterback to bring the long-elusive victory to the team.
The 49ers critics said Smith’s costly errors contributed to the team’s losses the past five games.
Mike Singletary, the 49ers coach however defended his decision to keep Smith to the starting line-up saying he deserve to keep his job at the moment.
Singletary said Smith might be playing bad these days but he believe he has big chances of becoming a great quarterback in the NFL and bring glory to the 49ers.
He said to improve, Smith just needs to stay focus and continue to work hard to bring success to the 49ers.
The 49ers coach said Smith might keep his job at the moment but he will evaluate his performance per game basis to determine if he can keep his starting quarterback job for the rest of the 2010 NFL season.
With a better 2-3 record, the Raiders is picked to win their game against the struggling 49ers.
Despite being the underdog, the 49ers could still pull an upset if Smith plays hard and with utmost determination.
Playing in-front of its fans, the 49ers could have more fire to play great and get their first win in the current NFL season.
